Bridgett Nickerson Boyd was experiencing a serious case of the Mondays when, after pulling over to the side of the freeway because her car broke down, a deputy pulled up behind her and wrote her a ticket for driving on the shoulder. But the deputy decided that a ticket wasnt enough and arrested Boyd, which gave Boyd heart palpitations. She was taken to the hospital. As soon as she felt better, she was carted off to jail. En route to jail, she says she was forced to listen to Rush Limbaugh make derogatory comments about black people on the radio. An African-American, Boyd sued the deputy for defamation, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, assault and battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress (a.k.a. listening to Limbaugh). The charges against Boyd were dropped and her lawyer told the press he hoped her complaint could be settled outside of court.
