Bring Zack Back Home campaign It’s been roughly over three months now since Zackary Muturi Kimotho took to the road on his wheel chair in a bid to realize his ambition. Zack has been making his way all the way to South Africa on a wheel chair in a campaign dubbed “Bring Zack Back Home”, aimed at raising money to establish the first ever regional spinal injuries medical centre in the country. The campaign which is primarily supported by the Kenya Paraplegic Association in conjunction with the country’s giant mobile operator Safaricom, has received massive support from the public and the corporate sector alike. Stepping on board most recently in the positive move towards this worthy course is Smirnoff which has now unleashed a special shelf of cocktails dubbed “Virtual Cocktails”. The cocktails come along with donated Vodka for a certain price inclusive of the contribution meant to ‘Bring Zack Back Home’. The amount that would be realized is to be forwarded to the campaign. The launch took place on Waiyaki Way at Mercury Lounge in Nairobi and saw supporters come together in a fundraising party supported by Smirnoff. The party was attended by various personalities and public figures among them including Safaricom’s CEO Bob Collymore, actresses Serah Ndanu, Mumbi Maina among other notable local celebrities. On the decks was one of Kenya’s top spin masters David Mureithi aka ‘DJ Delight’ who made sure that the dance floor was lively in terms of entertainment. Thanks to the amount contributed so far since the start of the campaign, the Kenya Paraplegic Organisation has managed to acquire a piece of land at Kiserian where the planned spinal injuries centre is expected to be put up. Kenyans of goodwill, corporate organisations and institutions have been called upon by the organizers of the campaign to offer support in the worthy move aimed at erecting the country’s home grown and affordable centre. © 2012, Roggers Momata.
