Brooks Maschmeier via CREDO Mobilize To Me Today at 10:04 PM My name is Brooks Maschmeier, owner of Simply Solar of Arizona. I want to thank you for your support helping protest against the solar tax that would have penalized every solar owner in AZ. You have helped us take on APS at the ACC multiple times recently – and win! We need the power of your voice again, but this time Governor Brewer is pushing solar property taxes on LEASED solar owners only. The property tax would not affect those who purchased their solar, even if a bank loan was used to get the solar. The property tax is based on the amount of the payments by the lessee to their lease outfit; the more you pay your lease outfit for the solar lease than the more you would have to pay in property taxes. Leasing equipment has different tax implications than purchasing equipment. Equipment that is leased for the purpose monetary gain is taxed, as the common practice through the United States. The solar lease property tax is coming from the Arizona Dept. of Revenue who is insisting that APS impose the lease tax on new and existing LEASING rooftop solar customers. This will generate revenue for current costs WITHOUT penalizing solar purchasers. This lease tax represents over 80% of Arizonas solar customers who would have to pay additional fees. Simply Solar of Arizona’s Position: At Simply Solar of Arizona, we choose to stop our solar leasing years ago and stand by that choice today. We feel leasing solar does not save the homeowner as much as purchasing solar. We find the right loan & terms for an individual to own and profit from their solar. Even current solar leasers or owners can save money by re-financing with us out of their bad terms or lease taxation. Our position is that this lease tax possibly remedies both the issues of an oversaturated Arizona solar lease market and the issue of adding lost Arizona revenue to support our infrastructure. Please voice your position on the leased solar property taxes. When: Wednesday, March 12 at 11am Where: Wesley Bolin Plaza, 1700 West Washington Avenue (between W. Jefferson St and W. Washington St) Or Click here to send Governor Brewer an email, or call her at (602) 542-4331. We thank you, as the solar owner or leaser, for your support and your willingness to get educated and mobilized about your position. -Brooks Maschmeier, Brooks@simplysolaraz You received this email because you signed the petition Governor Brewer: No Tax on Rooftop Solar. If you dont want to receive emails from the Governor Brewer: No Tax on Rooftop Solar campaign in the future,
