Brother Musa Cerantonio: Visiting the brothers at one of the Islamic centres inside Bangsamoro in Mindanao. The students are all taught and communicate only in Arabic. All of the students live at the centre sleeping on the hard floor, and there is a separate area for sisters who also study there. They live very simply yet their dedication to Islam is admirable. The next time you sit in an air-conditioned lecture theatre listening to a shaykh speak about Islam while you are sipping on your café latte and using Wi-Fi to check on your Facebook account, remember those who are living with almost nothing and how they remain so driven to increase their knowledge. May Allah unite our hearts and allow us to visit one another and share with one another what we have. Despite the lack of wealth here in Bangsamoro, I fell that we from the West have much more to gain from them than they have from us. Whilst we are able to offer some money to help them, they can show us and teach us what sincerity, dedication and zuhd really are.
