Brothers and Sisters, James 2:14 “What doeth it profit, - TopicsExpress

Brothers and Sisters, James 2:14 “What doeth it profit, my family in Christ, though a man say he have faith and not have works? Can faith save him?” Continuing through verse 15 and 16…”If your brother and sister be naked and destitute of daily food. If all you do is pass them a salute and give not the things that are needful to the body, what doeth faith profit?” What do we know then? Did Mother Teresa, who was a good person as we knew her to be, enter into the kingdom of heaven? We know she did many good works, we know she helped the poor, but how much work did she do for God in building his church? It would seem that while she dedicated her life to helping the material conditions of the poor, she didn’t risk it at any length to progress the church of God in a godless pit of Hindu filth. James in Chapter 2 speaks of father Abraham and the magnification of faith he had when he followed the command of God and offered his beloved Issac as a sacrifice. There was not one centillan of question as to the faith of Abraham, it was as hard as steel and because his faith was such, he moved to do as the Lord commanded. By faith comes the works. Faith alone is dead, works alone is dead. You can not do any amount of works to attain salvation thus what makes Catholic religion a dead religion blasphemous out of hell. Works based religion of man is a dead effort of worthlessness. Faith is the foundation of works for it is by faith established firmly in the believer that the Holy Spirit moves him to action, to compassion, to effort. It starts in the soul, works to the heart, shoots to the brain, travels to the hands, excites the mouth to speak, the mind to think and the body to move to great promise. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his worksmanship, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” And Ephesians 2: 8-9 “ For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works lest any man should boast.” Friends we are saved through faith because of God’s grace by the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ and as such we must give a return by works stirred to life by faith and by the great calling to continue and do the work of the harvest begun by the Savior. To feed and cloth the poor only for this present world and not carry them towards the deliverance offered by our Lord and the Holy Spirit is not only empty works…it is a rebuke in the face of the Lord our God. Do the work our Lord has instructed us to do my friends. Offer the breads of the body and of the soul and the living water of Jesus Christ. In love of our God and Savior…..Amen.
