Bruce Springsteen concert Saturday night - amazing - almost makes me not want to comment for fear of not doing it justice. Just a couple thoughts: 1. It was as awesome as everyone said it would be. 2. Bruce Springsteen has a great voice. That may sound strange coming from someone who has been a fan ever since that drive up to Philadelphia for Easter weekend plebe year when I was first introduced to the Born to Run album, but his voice was never his big selling point, from my perspective; I figured the voice was part of a package deal with the compositions and arrangement; you had to just accept it. But at the concert....he sounded REALLY good.....maybe he is just messing with us on his albums (especially when he gets over-the-top twangy). 3. Hes 64 fricking years old, and he played for over 3 hours. I hope to take less time than that to run the Boston Marathon on Monday. He is competing against the open athletes of the rock and roll world while he is almost eligible for medicare, and he is still the undisputed world champion. 4. It is perfectly clear that he is doing what he was put on Earth to do. Not sure where that fits in the master plan, if there is such a thing, but his gift is enough to make a person believe in intelligent design.
