Bruce Springsteen says If the things you do to survive kills the things you love, then fear is a powerful thing, and in one of these very awkward stages of my life fear started becoming a very, very powerful thing, and what I did to survive seemed to be killing everything that I loved, and more accurately, it was killing the people that I loved. What does it profit to us to gain the whole world and lose our own soul? What do we benefit to have everything to share and have no one to share with? Whats the point to survive if weve got no love? As cheesy as it sounds, I think the difference in living and just surviving, is loving, and at the end of the day no one really survives, so how tragic is it then? Some of us dont get to live while were alive. And now as a Christian some people are really gonna want me to talk about the afterlife right here and Im not going to: not because I dont believe in it, because I certainly do and if you know me at all you know that I do, but its not what the song Borderland is about, you know? So much of what Jesus talked about was... in fact, most of what He talked about was about for us here, today. Not about looking for some distant future and I think thats really really sad how most peoples concept of being a believer has more to do with what happens after you die and not what happens right now - John Mark McMillan about the song Borderland.
