Brutal hind-legged battle between large White-Tailed bucks Spikey (left) and Stumpy on the Northwest Ridge, western sector of La Bota Ranch near Laredo, Texas as other WTD look on - September 13, 2014 @ 5:51 p.m. Olympus OM-D E-M1, Zuiko ED 150mm f2.0, 1/1250 sec. ISO 640, aspect ratio 4:3, Program Mode (Natural; +2.0 sharpness, +2.0 contrast); Bogen 3046 Professional tripod. While standing on hind legs, these two beasts stand approximately 8 in height. This battle was prolonged, lasting over a minute, and numerous hard blows were delivered both ways as fur flew. The noise generated by the blows likely could have been heard for a couple of hundred yards. Neither buck backed down, but eventually Stumpy lost his footing, giving him the disadvantage at which point he disengaged, exhausted. During the fight I considered moving in and breaking it up, but I decided against it and stayed with the camera.
