Buddha was self-enlightened... then he gave up his family life and taught peace and kindness to all, with no mention about God. Jesus was enlightened by external Gnosis... then he gave up carpentry and taught Truth that we are all gods and have a Father (and Mother) in Heaven, and They are Love. Muhammad was self-enlightened... then he gave up his family life and took an army into Mecca threatening anyone who did not believe him... didnt he? If so, Im not sure that is a righteous or Godly way of teaching love... but Islam thrives on its disciplines and the fears of its members... and there is no love for infidels (anyone who is not a Muslim) in their Friday prayers. Nevertheless, all religions are man-made, not God-made. The only religion should be love and kindness to all. The only problem is how to deal with those human beings who are hypocrites or cold-hearted.... The tragedy of Tibet has made many monks needlessly self-immolate, while the Dalai Lama is treated as a permanent enemy of China, for pragmatic reasons. The tragedy of Jesus was that he fought the Jewish hypocrites of the time, and the punishment was his crucifixion. Christianity today is guilty of the same hypocrisy. The tragedy of Muhammad is that he left a legacy of bringing terror to all those judged as infidels. The only religion IS ... love and kindness to all... and gently chiding those who are unable to do so, through loving them with an understanding from Gods perspective (compassion), then through counselling and teaching... but always allowing them freedom of choice to remain in ignorance and oblivion if they prefer a life of selfish pleasures, hedonism, materialism, greed, cruelty, self-deceit, or anything else that makes people be unloving and unkind to others. The moral here is that the choices people make in their lives, are judgements that will fall upon themselves eventually. Therefore be loving and kind, without judgement, but discern those who have a different path and let them follow it, if that is their choice. gnsoticjohn 2014.
