Buhari rejects female APC guber candidate Saying it is forbidden for woman to lead Fresh crisis is brewing in Taraba State as All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has rejected the candidacy of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan. Coordinator of the Buhari Campaign Organisation in the state, Ya’u Samaila, who disclosed the former head of state’s rejection of the only female governorship candidate in the 2015 election in Jalingo yesterday, said his action is based on the fact that the primary election which produced her was flawed. Samaila therefore urged the APC national secretariat to resolve the matter to enable the party members work together in the interest of the party and the state. According to Samaila, the list of APC delegates to the primaries was altered to favour Senator Alhassan. He called on the people of the state to support Buhari to enable him end insurgency in the North- Eastern states, insisting that Buhari was the best candidate to address Nigeria’s present dilemma. The campaign coordinator insisted that Buhari was capable of tackling insecurity, poverty, power failure and corruption. In his response, an aide to Senator Aisha, Bala Maina, said the allegations were baseless, adding that the primaries were free and fair. He said that Senator Aisha is a loyal member of the APC and that the Buhari campaign organisation was lying on the issue. Nigerian Pilot recalls that the three aspirants of the party for the governorship race boycotted the primaries as a result of what they described as irregularities in the exercise and petitioned the APC national secretariat and Buhari. Senator Alhassan is supported by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who allegedly mobilised the delegates for her victory.
