Building a 400 Tower--and then taking a peek at our progress! Check this out! Heres a video made by Joe Moffatt from here in Tupelo, MS, with his DJI Phantom 2 Video quadcopter drone. The occasion was during the building of his fathers Chuck Moffatt) new 400 communications tower. It replaces the 400 tower that was struck during the devastating tornado of April 28, 2014. This great video came from the drone as it climbed to the top of the sections that had been built at that time -- about 360 feet. And, isnt it a beautiful view to look around at the countryside, too. Do any of you feel ready to climb up this tower and walk around like these professional climbers did? Thanks, Joe and Chuck, for providing this great piece of video. At the beginning of the video, you will see approximately 150 of the mangled, twisted tower that fell during the tornado. These pieces had landed in the road, but were pushed aside by a backhoe and Bobcat. In case youre interested, at the end of the video--while the drone is landing, you might see me standing in the roadway beside my tripod, as I was using my long lens to make some photos of this adventure.
