Bullying! 7th and 8th Grade 7th grade 2013 to 2014 school year. Last year my child was told by a teacher to go kill him self on numerous occasions. This teacher also told other students to do the same thing that were in a different class as my child. I took my child out of this teacher class when it was brought to my attention. This teacher has caused my child a lot of mental and academic harm! This so called roll model sent a message to my child that since his teacher does not care if he lived or died so why should he. This statement from this person lead to suicidal thoughts and actions. This teacher gave specific directions on how he would like my child to kill him self along with the statement why dont you do us all a favor My child failed this class all year, which did not make any seance to me because my child is gifted in this subject. I worked with him along with getting him counseling most of the school year to figure out what the problem was and we came up with no solid answers. I figured that my child was just going through a faze as all children do. Well now we know why my child failed this class and refused to do the class work. This was the only class he had any trouble in. Nothing happened to this teacher when I brought it to the schools and school boards attention, this teacher finished this school year out. The principal of this school swept it under the rug like he has done to my other childrens and my complaints and concerns over the years. We are now two weeks into 2014-2015 school year my child is now in 8th grade. I am happy to report that this problem teacher is no longer with this school. I am sad to report that this statement go kill your self or why dont you go die has stuck with the school. My child has been at school for 7 out of the 10 day and has been told to go kill himself 3 times, Students that my child does not even know. When 1 student said this to my child they were in the same class together. This happened on Tuesday Aug 26th 2014 this female child. She said to my child You are annoying, shut up and go kill your self! The week before that 2 more female students walked up to my child at lunch time on different days and said why dont you just go die. Last night my child had sever suicidal issues, thank god I was there for him! God only knows what would of happened to him if I was not home. After my child calmed down and was able to talk to me I asked him why. This is when he told me about his piers telling him to kill him self and my child then said know one likes me every one says I am annoying, people keep telling me to go kill my self so why not just go do it. No one cares if I live or die. ( what a sad statement especially coming from a 13 year old child) I kept my child home from school today 8/29/2014. I went to the school and talked to the principle (yes same principle from prior years) I told him that my children are not safe at this school and that I will be taking my them out of this school. I also said to him that out of all 4 schools that all my children have attended last year and so far this year, this was then only school that this statement has been used towards students in this manner. I asked him if he knew why this statement was/is used so much in this school. The principle said he did not know then he accused my child of doing or saying something to these other students to provoke them to make such a statement. He asked my child if he made this kind of statement to the other students or if he told these other students that he liked them. (Other students are female). Then the principle interrogated my child about why he did not know the names of these other students.( we are only 2 weeks into the school year and it is a large school) He also interrogated my son on why he could only point out a picture of the one student that is in his class and not the ones from lunch. This principle made my son feel like he was the one that did something wrong. Well I should say tried to make my son feel like he did something wrong as I would not let him. My son is and was not the bully here! That brings me to why I am writing this. I want to know is it bullying when students tell other students to go kill them self? I did tell the principle along with the district office that I believe that this school has such a problem with this statement because the student body has seen and been subjected to this statement over the years by this one teacher roll model and has sent the message that it is ok to tell people to do this. Children lead by example! This principle and district office tried to tell me this is not classified as bullying. I call bull crap on that! Is this bullying? Please share, share, share. We need to keep our kids safe.
