Bungee Jumping Sixth Formers take on the challenge - TopicsExpress

Bungee Jumping Sixth Formers take on the challenge tomorrow! Two friends from Chauncy School, Lucie (18) Compton and Holly (18) Wilson from Ware will be throwing themselves 160 feet from a crane, tied together on 27th July at the 02 in a tandem bungee jump to raise funds for Isabel Hospice. The local charity cared for the mum of one of their friends, Lee Robnett, and they are determined to raise as much money as they can as a way of saying thank you. “We are both doing our A levels at the moment” said Lucie “so this will be great way to let off steam after that. Lee is a good friend of ours and the Hospice were wonderful in looking after his mum Bridget who died in April age 54. We chose to bungee jump off the 02 because a bungee jump is a daring activity involving risk and excitement so we believe it will get people talking about the actual act and consequently the Hospice, therefore raising awareness. Our friends and family were shocked at first to hear we had chosen such a risky activity but they are fully supportive of us and have contributed to our donations. Holly said “Mr O’Sullivan, our Headteacher has been very supportive by letting us advertise our campaign with posters around school and has also offered to post our Justgiving link onto the Chauncy website. We’d love to raise £1,000 so any donations would be welcome! justgiving/hollyandlucietandembungee “ Lee (17) added “The Hospice provided my family with amazing care an support around the clock; allowing some of my family to stay overnight in rooms which are specially provided for families of those who are ill. The nurses and volunteers were brilliant in the support they have offered to my family and other families; always with a smile on their face and willing to chat. The care itself they provided for my mum was first class and it was a real comfort knowing my mum was at peace at a place she felt comfortable, safe and well looked after. “ Dennis O’Sullivan added “Its great to see the girls supporting the hospice where their friends mum was so well cared for in her last days. Students at the school raise thousands each year for various charities and they give happily out of compassion for others. Isabel Hospice does a great job and it looks like our Year 8 children will be supporting it as one of their Charities of the Year, inspired by Lucie and Holly’s efforts.”
