Burns Park’s Art from the Hood show kicks off on Friday Ann Arbor’s Burns Park neighborhood seems to be one of those local hot spots where you can’t throw a paintbrush without hitting an artist – and this dynamic inspired graphic artist Carol Morris to put together Art from the Hood, a new collective exhibit featuring the work of 7 Burns Park artists working in various media (digital art, art tiles, 3D media, etc.). The show kicks off with an artist reception – featuring live music and refreshments – on Friday, January 9 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ann Arbor Senior Center; the suggested donation is $5. “I was asked to do a show (at the Ann Arbor Senior Center) myself, and I thought, ‘Wait a minute,” Morris said. ” … I just realized that there are so many artists in the neighborhood that I don’t know, and I wanted to get a roster going. … So I asked 6 artists I knew to show with me. … Hopefully, we’ll be able to do this every year.” Artists included in Art from the Hood are: Jane W. Bunge; Julie Cohen, Pam Hoffer, Samah Majadla; Morris; Julie Renfro; and Mike Sivak.
