‘Bury your head in shame’ – Ogun Speaker tells guber candidate Speaker of the Ogun State House Assembly, Suraj Adekunmbi has faulted the position of his fellow kinsman and governorship candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, Nasir Isiaka in the 2011 election, who described Amosun’s government as one which lacks vision. The speaker in a chat with newsmen in Abeokuta yesterday, hit back at the PPN guber candidate who had earlier described Amosun’s administration as one with no vision on the needs of the people, declaring that the massive infrastructural development in the state is a misplaced priority. He said, Isiaka lacked every right to comment on the present administration, demanding him to bury his head in shame for his master’s alleged mis-governance of the state for eight years. Adekunmbi who took his kinsman back to history said, “My brother may be too overwhelmed by the present administration’s performance in the last two years compare to what they had in eight years. I think, one have to remind my brother that projects, too numerous to mention were embarked without any meaningful gain five, six years after leaving office. “Take for instance, the Yewa International market built with Ogun state taxpayers’ money running into hundreds of millions of naira. No single shop was opened during the Daniel administration and the market turned into heavens for reptiles and men of the underworld. How do we describe that? “Recently, the governor told the world that there was no single document on the proposed Agro-cargo Airport, yet millions of dollars was sunk into it. What do we call that kind of project during their era? The Speaker queried. Adekunmbi again noted that the Ilaro/Owode road purportedly constructed by the Daniel administration “did not last a year and that is a project they claimed money from the federal government of having executed. “The Ilo/Awela road in Ado Odo/Ota is another project claimed to have been executed by them, but, what do we have. Very soon, we shall all go and commission the road in the standard, the present administration has unprecedentedly set for humanity and posterity.” The speaker explained that the present leadership in the state “is determine to execute projects that will prepare the state for the next 25 years; just like the Awolowo days, so my brother accusing finger should be pointed at his boss who drawing the state back 25 years for their shallow and non-futuristic eight-year administration. Isiaka, a loyalist and strong cabinet member of the Gbenga Daniel government had during the empowerment scheme by his new party, the Labour Party, LP; described Amosun administration has one with no vision on the need of the people, declaring that the massive infrastructural development in the state is a misplaced priority.
