Business News: Simply having a FB page or a website does NOT mean that you are engaged in online marketing. You have to work it – get your audience engaged with the message that you are projecting. The concept of placing an ad in ‘the phone book’ and waiting for consumers to pick your name out of the huge basket of competitors is, for the most part, 100% useless and a total waste of money. Have you noticed that quite a few Big Corp assisted living and caregiver companies use Face Book and other social media marketing? Would they be doing that if it didn’t give them results? We can’t count the number of people that say ‘our website and Face Book don’t bring us any business’. Here’s why. Our survey of assisted living and caregiver services continues in the Tucson and southern Arizona region - and looking at almost everyones Face Book pages. Well – people that have them – which is a really low percentage. One of our findings so far is that less than 10% of companies or homes use their Face Book page/s - at all.........no current postings, no information other that the basic page info, very few photos. And certainly no engagement with audiences, markets or the community. On the average, the most current posting/s on these FB pages is about 90 days old. Or more. The dynamics and demographics of our desired audiences are very unique and different. Because of that, we have to market ourselves quite differently than the mainstream; and we have to get out of the mindset that has been the norm for the last 25 years. The folks that ARE using a FB page and/or website - great job!! Although our business and services and products are very different from the consumer mainstream, we are engaged in one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the country. In the world. And our region is at the leading edge of those growth markets. But that doesn’t mean that marketing methods that worked in the past are still effective. What are your thoughts?
