"But what then is capital punishment but the most premeditated of murders, to which no criminal’s deed, however calculated it may be, can be compared? For there to be equivalence, the death penalty would have to punish a criminal who had warned his victim of the date at which he would inflict a horrible death on him and who, from that moment onward, had confined him at his mercy for months. Such a monster is not encountered in private life". ~ - Albert Camus, Nobel Prize winner It bothers me that so many Americans define themselves as “Christians” and also support the death penalty. It has been proven that innocent people have suffered the death penalty because no system on Earth is perfect. American justice is very flawed - that is proven every day in the court system we rely upon. -- Christian or not, Jesus was falsely put to death, and even had He been guilty as accused, who are we as imperfect people to make a judgement as final as death? There is something terribly wrong about the death penalty and all of its prejudices and imperfections. It has no place in a self-proclaimed civilized society. ~ Nancy Condy
