“Buy them books, Send them to school, And they still dont - TopicsExpress

“Buy them books, Send them to school, And they still dont know any thing. Case in point - Lake Erie. I graduated high school in 1975. I remember being told just a bit before then that Lake Erie was DEAD. There were serious studies done and actions taken to Revitalize the Lake. Tributaries were cleaned, wetlands were reclaimed, agricultural fertilization was regulated, etc, etc. Lake Erie came back. It is NOT a closed system. It has tributaries and an outlet. Last winters weather was record-breaking cold. The winds of summer blew predominantly from the North East. The surface algae that caused the toxicity was locked in the basin. What part of that scenario can be addressed by ANY government entity? Those who rely on Lake Erie for fresh water should look into what they can do to support the Lake instead of running to the Federals for answers. Look into where wetlands can be instituted. Check the Maumee River and its tributaries for cleanliness. Rely on those regulations for agriculture that are already in place and make sure those regulations are being followed. Spend the money to update the water treatment plants both supply and sewage. Separate storm water from sewage with holding areas that keep raw sewage from entering the Lake. Stand on the shore and blow North East!
