By: Cassandra Nist, newsnet5 CANTON, Ohio - Canton police detectives have made an arrest in the 2007 homicide of 87-year-old Bennie Angelo. The Canton Detective’s Bureau, Special Investigative Unit and agents from the F.B.I. Street Task Force executed an arrest warrant about 9 a.m. Wednesday morning at 932 Prospect Ave. SW. Detectives arrested and charged Chester Ray Crank, 33 with aggravated murder and aggravated burglary. Detectives also executed a simultaneous search warrant for additional evidence at Crank’s residence at 2012 19th St. NE. As detectives continue to investigate, further charges and arrests may be pending in this case. The Canton police responded to Angelo’s residence at 1827 Endrow Ave. NE on Jan. 7, 2007 after the Canton Fire Department discovered a gunshot wound on his body during a fire at his residence. Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set to conceal the crime. Anyone with any information on any of Canton’s unsolved homicides is asked to call the detective bureau at 330-489-3144.
