By Rachael Van horn Staff Writer Two burn victims were transported Tuesday afternoon by Air Evac from injuries sustained as a result of a raging wildfire that burned homes and miles of pasture and crop land north of Woodward, according to scanner traffic. Unable to land closer to the victims, EMS drivers transported the burn victims from county road NS195 to a nearby airport where Air Evac pilots waited to take them on to the hospital. The victims names were not released as of Tuesday afternoon. The fire that started Tuesdays blaze was spotted late morning north of the Woodward Airport on Airport Road. Winds coming from the Southwest whipped up the flames and sent the fire northeast toward numerous homes in the region, according to Matt Lehenbauer, Woodward County Emergency Management Director. Lehenbauer said he evacuated a 4 mile by 10 mile swath reaching from about six miles north of Woodward, near a region known as Reger Hill all the way to Fort Supply and on east. As of 3:30 p.m., there were no other injuries reported. Officials said one home was known to be lost in the blaze.
