By butt is major dragging today. Its bad enough that its cold and by the time I put on all the layers to face the cold and do chores, Im worn out, but I was awaken at 1AM. The dogs were going crazy. 5 of the 6 were in their crates in the dining room as I fed them their dinner just before going to bed. Got out of my warm and toasty bed to see what the problem was and there was a face visible at my front door. You have to go through a gate to get to it. Noticed it was a sheriffs deputy. That can NOT mean good news. Opened the door and he said he was doing a well-being check. I told him while I appreciated his concern over my being, didnt seem appropriate at 1AM! He said the neighbor had called and said the dogs were running loose, the car alarm was going off and I didnt answer the door when they knocked. I guess I should appreciate the fact that they would check but my dogs all 6 of the house dogs were accounted for and had been secured since 9PM (and werent loose before then), the LGD was in the pasture barking at the car that came in at 1AM (good girl!) and my car doesnt have a car alarm. And, as evidenced by the fact that all the dogs went crazy when he knocked on the door, if someone knocked, I would have heard them unless I was dead. Cant think of another neighbor (we are exactly close) that would have dogs running loose and/or the neighbor that called could have heard anything. I keep telling myself that its good they check when there is a potential problem but see a deputy at 1AM gets the adrenaline going and makes it hard to get back to sleep.
