By courtesy of Edward Mitchell, heres Ben Selvins Orchestra performing the Jimmy Durante tune Ive Got My Habits On (https://youtube/watch?v=xkbdgC2T4Yg) with Billy Joness vocals, Jules Levy Jr. & possibly Hymie Farbermans trumpets, Eph(raim) Hannaford (Wendy Gardner & Craig Hannafords uncle grandpa) on trombone, Nathan Glantzs sappy alto & soprano saxes, an unknown man on alto sax (Lou Daly or more likely Charles Dornberger), an unknown tenor sax doubling on C-melody sax, Bernie Grauer & another guy (presumably Cliff Hess or Norman Spencer or Frank Banta Jr.) as the piano duo, John Calis romping rollicking banjo, John Pop Hellebergs tuba & Selvins longtime sideman & founding member Milton Sandss drums. Selvin cut this title on November 16 from 1921 in Vocalions recording studio located at the 35th West 43th Street from New York. It was originally issued on Vocalion 14277 (released on February from 1922 according to Allan Suttons Vocalion Discography from the 14000 series), british Aco G-15043 (on November from 1922 according to Mike Thomass Aco listing: mgthomas.co.uk/…/LabelPag…/ACO%20UK%20listing.pdf) & british Guardsman 1199 as Californian Dance Orchestra (presumably on the same release date as with the Aco release). Though Johnson & Shirleys American Dance Bands on Record & Film shows Ben Selvin being the vocalist, which is wrong since Ben Selvin did his first vocal refrain on his own sides on 1925 (Kinky Kids Parade & Ya-Ya Alma), so the vocalist is Billy Jones, whose voice is recognisable as he recorded several duets with Ernest Hare & both also recorded with Ben Selvin during their recording careers. By the way, hope youll enjoy this hot arrangement a lot!
