By courtesy of Edward Mitchell, heres Ben Selvins Orchestra performing the Jerome Kern tune Ka-Lu-A (https://youtube/watch?v=pIZgq5hdBFE) with Jules Levy Jr.s trumpet, Hymie Farbermans snappy trumpet, Eph(raim) Hannaford (Wendy Gardner & Craig Hannafords uncle grandpa) on trombone, Nathan Glantzs sappy alto sax & soprano sax, an unknown tenor sax, Bernie Grauers piano, John Calis romping rollicking banjo, an unknown tuba & Selvins longtime sideman & founding member Milton Sandss drums. Selvin cut this side at the Vocalion recording studio located at the 35th West 43 Street from New York on October 16 from 1921 & it went issued on Vocalion 14261 (released on January from 1922 according to Allan Suttons Vocalion discography of the 14000 series), british Vocalion M-1070, british Vocalion X-9279, british Beltona 140 as the Georgian Dance Orchestra (photo of the label is shown on the Mike Thomas Dance Band Encyclopaedia (showing control number 0800: mgthomas.co.uk/Dancebands/Labels/LabelPhotos/Beltona-2a.JPG), british Homochord H-419 as Homochord Dance Orchestra & belgian Chantal 1336 as either Orchestre De Danse Chantal or Orchestre De Danse De La Cour, Londres. The tune itself was on the musicals Good Morning, Dearie & The Cabaret Girl (the latter in London). Hope youll enjoy this side!
