By request from Steven Crider, here are some Fun Facts on The Matrix: (1) In Greek mythology, Morpheus is the god of dreams. This makes the name of the character Morpheus a bit ironic, since his mission is to wake people from a dream world. (2) The Wachowski brothers originally asked Warner Brothers studio for $80 million to make the movie. They were given $10 million. They used it to film the opening scene with Trinity. After seeing this scene, the studio gave them the full budget. (3) Actors considered for the role of Neo: Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise and Nicholas Cage. (4) The Wachowski brothers worked for five and a half years on the Matrix, going through 14 drafts of the screenplay and 500 storyboards. (5) Gary Oldman and Samuel L. Jackson were considered for the role of Morpheus. (6) Carrie Anne-Moss twisted her ankle during filming, but did not tell anyone so she would not be recast.
