C.I.T. Musical Society Presents: How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying This Easter, CIT Musical Society will be transporting the CIT Cork School of Music Curtis Auditorium back in time to 1950’s corporate America, with Frank Loesser’s hilariously satirical Tony Award-winning hit musical How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Follow the star of our show - opportunistic window-washer J. Pierrepont Finch (played on Broadway by stars such as Matthew Broderick, Daniel Radcliffe, Darren Criss and Nick Jonas) in his meteoric rise up the corporate ladder. At the World Wide Wicket company Finch’s journey is fuelled by ambition, desire, love and coffee! West End professional director and choreographer, Johnathan Tweedie (Riverdance 2006, Stephen Gately Memorial Concert 2010, Evita 2010, The Muppets Most Wanted 2014), will take his seat in the director’s chair for the first time with the society. The society is also delighted to announce the return of renowned pianist Deirdre Long (Everyman/Cork Operatic Society Pagliacci 2012, Orpheus 2013) as Musical Director, and to welcome back Bachelor of Music Masters Student Michael Young (Crusade Irish Premiere 2013, The Scarlet Pimpernel 2013), as the production’s Assistant Musical Director. This production is unique as society members are working closely in conjunction with the professional creative team in the crucial roles of Assistant Director (Katrina Foley), Production Manager (Alan Dalton) and Stage Manager (Aoife O’Boyle) gaining invaluable industry experience. The society has gone from strength to strength in its short tenure and is now made up of students from the CIT Main Campus, CIT Cork School of Music, and CIT Crawford College of Art and Design. The Musical Society has also collaborated this year with the CIT Dance Society. This is the first time that the societies have joined together and is very exciting for all involved. Third year Bachelor of Music student Brian Raftery has been involved with the society since 2011 and plays the lead role of J. Pierrepont Finch. Brian is very active in the Cork musical theatre scene, having starred in the Everyman Palace Theatre’s production of Camp Rock (2012) and more recently as Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2013). Brian will be joined by leading lady Muirgen O’Mahony as Finch’s love interest and secretary, Rosemary Pilkington. Muirgen is a current second year Bachelor of Music student and is a past student of Cork Arts Studio. She starred in last year’s production of Into the Woods as one of Cinderella’s evil stepsisters and has also performed in venues such as the Cork Opera House, Everyman Palace Theatre Cork and The National Concert Hall. Even our society Twitter account - @CITMusical - has been taken over by World Wide Wicket Company employee and comic villain Bud Frump. Follow all his antics and the company gossip leading up to showtime #H2SCork. The show will run from Monday 14th of April to Wednesday 16th of April - with three evening performances and a matinee on Wednesday 16th. Tickets are priced at €10 (concession) and €15 (full price) and are available to buy online: cit.ie/tickets. Tickets are also available at the main office in the C.I.T Cork School of Music. Email: citmusicalbookings@gmail for ticket enquiries. This production is proudly sponsored by the C.I.T. Arts Office where further information can be found! Stay tuned to our Twitter - @CITMusical - and our Facebook Page - CIT Musical Society, for updates! “The whole salad is bigger than any piece of lettuce.” – J. Pierrepont Finch
