CALL FOR MODERATORS Tunisian Youth Parliament Deadline : September 5th 2013, 23.59 CET. What? Founded in December 2012, Tun’Act is a non profit and non politically oriented NGO, that promotes citizenship, education and the culture of debate and encourages young people to participate in the Tunisian political life. The Tunisian Youth Parliament (TYP) will apply the established working procedures of the European Youth Parliament known as Teambuilding, Committee Work and General Assembly, further adjusted to the level of preparation and experience of the participants. For further information about Tun’Act, please visit: tunact.org When? The Tunisian Youth Parliament will take place in Hammamet in Tunisia between the 7th and 11th of October. As a moderator you are expected to arrive on the 5th of October before 2 pm in Hammamet in order to attend the training. Departures will be on Sunday 12th. Why? More than two years after the Tunisian revolution in 2011 which led to the fall of Ben Ali and the end of 55 years of dictatorship, the democratic culture and the rights and duties of citizens remain a vague notion particularly among young people. The Tunisian Youth Parliament is an initiative created to meet the needs to train future citizens and leaders of tomorrow. The TYP is a project that encourages young people to have their own say in shaping the future of their country and provides an opportunity to participate in a practical and educational experience. Who? The TYP 2013 will welcome somewhat 60 participants in the ages 18-27 from all regions of Tunisia. In addition, the TYP will also host 6 moderators from the European Youth Parliament, and 6 moderators from the Middle Eastern/North African region. The debat according to the language choosen will be in Arabic (2 groups), in English (1 group) and in French (3 groups). Therefore you have to specify the language you feel confortable working with in your application. All moderators must speak French despite the working language of their committee. Financial Conditions Costs such as accommodation, meals and transport will be covered by Tun’Act. Moderators will also be offered a travel grant of approximately 300 EUR which will be reimbursed in Tunisian Dinars* (TD) after the 1st Tunisian Youth Parliament. We will support you to obtain the required visa if needed (Palestinian, Syrian, Egyptian).
