CALLING ALL COBALT KIDS! Great news! George Lusher, Project Coordinator for the Blackbird Mining Company, has responded to my e-mail request for the Cobalt Kids Reunion in 2015! Mr. Lusher states that: the company will permit our reunion in the townsite! The Blackbird Mining Co. has approved the following: (1) Our base for the Reunion will probably be in Salmon Idaho, (2) We will make day trips to the Cobalt Townsite from Salmon probably twice. (3) While at the townsite we would like the freedom to walk, hike and/or drive around the townsite, (4) We would like to have a general gathering somewhere near the center of the old town, such as the IGA store site for lunches and dinner gatherings. Here is Mr. Lushers Response: Mike, As far as your reunion at the old Cobalt Townsite goes the company will permit activities such as your items 2, 3 & 4 described below; however, camping is not allowed. There is a campground approximately 3 miles downstream at the mouth of Deep Creek and one approximately 6 miles upstream on Panther Creek. Please give me plenty of notice up front with dates and times; we will have a company representative grant access and check in from time to time. Thank you, George Lusher Project Coordinator Blackbird Mining Company 803 Monroe St. Suite 112 P.O. Box 1645 Salmon, ID. 83467 Cell: (208)-940-2647 Office: (208)-756-8688
