CAMP MESSAGE VIA RALPH BREWER: We have a scheduling problem with camp for next year. We thought we had the week of June 7 but there was a problem. One of the right hands on the Big Reedy Board was not aware of what one of the left hands was doing. Typically, in reserving camps sessions, the congregation who had a specific week on one year gets the first right of refusal each year after that. One board member was working on that assumption but the other wasn’t. So, the first three full weeks of June are already reserved for next year by the congregations who had them reserved this year(even though they didn’t get to go to camp). But, that is only fair and we haven’t been cheated out of anything. When we get a week reserved, we will have it every year unless we have an opportunity at another week. I would like for us to make a decision about this in the next week if possible. So, the bottom line is, these are the weeks available to us in 2015 (with a few comments from me). >Sunday, May 31 through Friday, June 3. (This would be a great week in most cases but there are two other observations. 1. Depending on how many snow days we have, it is possible that school could run into this week. 2. On many years, this would include having camp on Memorial Day.) Sunday, June 28 through Friday, July 3. (This is an OK week unless we continue to have VBS the week leading up to the 4th. There has been some talk about switching our VBS back to a week different than the 4th. If we do this, it wouldn’t be a problem. However, it is also possible that on certain years, we would be at camp on July 4th. I think that will be pretty rare though.) Sunday, July 5 through Friday, July 10. (This would also be a week where we would be at camp on July 4th on certain years.) Sunday, July 12 through Friday, July 17. (I don’t know of any potential conflicts with this unless we move our VBS to this week.) I would like for everyone who can to meet briefly this Wednesday evening after Bible class. If you can’t make that meeting and have opinions of input, please let me know. If we don’t hurry up on this, another week will fill up on us.
