CAMPUS SHUTDOWN - NEVER BORING IN USA Purse snatcher caught near Eckerd College after manhunt St. Petersburg, Florida -- After a brief chase and manhunt for a purse snatcher and three others, Pinellas Sheriffs deputies have captured all four suspects. Investigators say a man approached a womans vehicle as she was parked outside a home on Isle Drive. He asked her to roll down her window as he asked for directions. He then reportedly pulled out a handgun and demanded her purse. The woman honked the horn to attract attention as the man reached in and grabbed her purse. He then jumped into a blue Honda CRV. A deputy in the area saw the vehicle heading east on the Pinellas Bayway and attempted to pull it over, but instead the driver eluded the deputy and a pursuit began. At one point, the CRV tried to make a U-turn in the area of 38th Way South and 50th Avenue, but collided with a deputy cruiser setting off the airbag and disabling the vehicle. Four people then jumped out and ran off near Eckerd College campus. Within a half hour, deputies, St. Pete Police and K-9 units were able to track all four of them down and arrest them. The identities of those arrested have not been released at this time.
