CAN A BELIEVER IN CHRIST BACKLIDE? The word backlide is not a New Covenant word or language. You cant even find that word in the whole of New Testament scriptures. I think that the only word close to it is found in Heb.10:38,39 which says, but if any man draw back......,But the 39th.verse concluded by saying,But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition;but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. Belivers cannot backlide or draw back unto perdition (destruction) because we are not of them that draw back but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. For a believer to backslide means that he have to disbelive the virgin birth, the perfect life, the substitutional death and the resurrection of Christ for our justification. He also has to conciously renounce Christ and His finished work on the cross and disbelieve it totally and the bcome unborn again which is completely imposible. Some religious leaders and brethren think that because someone who was once coming to the local assembly no more show up for one reason or the other best known to them, such individuals have backlided.Or because they see a believer suddenly started engaging in sinful habits conclude such has backslided. As good as these personal performances may be,they were not the things that earned us salvation so they cannot makes us backlide or draw back to perdition. We became saved by Gods grace through faith and no believer will ever stop believing in what Christ has done.So as long as we believe,we can never loose our salvation.
