CAN WE JUST SUPPORT ONE OF OUR BEST? Much has been said about John Mikel Obis performances in the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup. Hes accused of being slow and weak, couple with his lack of vision and counter play. Many will recall Mikels performances in the 2005 World Youth Championship as his best till date, in the Green and White jersey. No doubt, Mikel has the potential to be one of worlds greats. It is unfair to Mikel, if we continue to compare him with Lionel Messi, both who played in the final of that tournament. These are two different footballers. Mikel still remains one of our best footballers at the moment. His composure and decisive tackles brings stability to the midfield. Mikel provides support to the defense and exudes leadership qualities that are key for any team to succeed. He may not play like Yaya Toure, but he surely adds value to the team. Mikel might just prove his critics wrong with a superb performance against France today. Lets get off his back and give him the support he needs.
