CAN ZAHID FIND FAULT WILL CRONIES? Zahid: No protection for culprits in UPSR leaks Bernama | 10:00PM Sep 14, 2014 The police will not protect those individuals or senior officers involved in leaking the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) Science and English papers. Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the police had opened an investigation paper and were liaising with the education ministry to jointly carry out a detailed probe into the leakages. More information will be unearthed by the police, especially on the method of distribution of question papers of not only UPSR, but also other examinations. The education ministry and the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate have given us much information to facilitate investigations. I wish to give my assurance that the police will not do a cover-up on any individual or senior officer involved in the leakage, he told reporters after opening the Batu Kawan Umno division delegates meeting in Butterworth today. Meanwhile, the police today detained four teachers during a raid in Penang and Parit Buntar, Perak over the leakages in the examination papers. Police to get list of members On further developments in the case of unregistered organisation, Voluntary Patrol Squad (PPS) set up by the Penang government, Ahmad Zahid said the police would hand over a list comprising PPS officials and members, upon completion of the screening of its 10,000 members. He said PPS members with criminal records would be dealt with, in accordance with the law. On whether the ministry had asked the Penang Government to register PPS with the Registrar of Societies (ROS), Ahmad Zahid said: We are discussing with the state government on the best way to absorb them in legitimate organisations. On Aug 31, the police detained 156 members of the PPS, including its chairman, Phee Boon Poh, who is also state welfare, caring society and environment committee chairman, for allegedly ignoring a warning against carrying out activities as it was not registered with ROS. - Bernama
