CANADA 24 HIGH DEMAND PROFESSIONS UNDER FEDERAL SKILLED WORKERS WHERE 300 APPLICATIONS WERE TO BE ACCEPTED IN EACH CATEGORY BUT TILL 10TH MARCH 2014 RESPONSE IS NOT GOOD WITH NUMBER OF APPLICANTS HAVE NOT REACHED THIS FIGURE THEREFORE IMMIGRANTS CAN STILL APPLY BY 30TH APRIL 2014 AND SEE BELOW HOW MANY HAVE SO FAR APPLIED 12TH MARCH 2014 Only few professions are sill open to accept the Canadian immigration applications for this year before the deadline of April 30, 2014. Most of the occupations in the medical field have not reached the annual cap. Canada’s federal skilled worker program limits the eligibility to those foreign professionals who have experience in 24 high demand professions with an annual cap of 300 applications for each occupation. There is another overall cap of 5000 application under the federal skilled worker class for Canadian permanent residence each year. Citizenship and immigration Canada is introducing a new Expression of Interest based selection system from January 2015. Citizenship and Immigration Canada will be introducing a new Expression of Interest selection process from early 2015 which will be heavily driven by the employers in the country. The system will match the skills and experience of the potential foreign professionals with the requirements of employers in Canada. Once the applicant is matched with the employer, foreign professional will be then invited to apply for Canada immigration. Second significant change in the program will be that first come first serve rule will not longer be applicable as it is being applied on the immigration application currently being processed. The employers could pick any applicant who is good fit for the business will come to the front of the line. Citizenship and immigration Canada expects to reduce the processing time under six months from the existing processing time of over two years at some Canadian visa offices abroad. The professions along with the number of completed applications received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada by March 10, 2014 are listed below: 2113 Geoscientists and oceanographers 93 2143 Mining engineers 13 2144 Geological engineers 13 2145 Petroleum engineers 139 2146 Aerospace engineers 64 2154 Land surveyors 45 2243 Industrial instrument technicians and mechanics 171 3141 Audiologists and speech-language pathologists 27 3143 Occupational Therapists 70 3212 Medical laboratory technicians and pathologists’ assistants 187 3214 Respiratory therapists, clinical perfusionists and cardiopulmonary technologists 30 3215 Medical Radiation Technologists 82 3216 Medical Sonographers 50 3217 Cardiology technologists and electrophysiological diagnostic technologists 47 Total number of application received are 4,030 out of total annual quota of 5,000. There are still about 900 applications short of the total cap.
