CAPS United assistant coach, Brenna Msiska, has asked for divine intervention to end their four- year jinx against Monomotapa ahead of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow. Msiska, who is a born-again Christian, yesterday said the Green Machine are looking to continue with their promising run after going for seven games without a loss. However the former Warriors and CAPS United goalkeeper told The Herald that he is worried by their poor record against Biggie Zuze’s men. Makepekepe have not beaten Monos since September 2009 when Nyasha Mushekwi’s terrific hat-trick powered them to a 4-3 win. “We are looking good but you should not forget that this team has been terrorising us for the past few years. “They have really given us some problems but I believe God is for everyone. There is always one day and I think the time has come for us to win against Monoz. I am sure God will intervene in a special way,” said Msiska. Makepekepe will be missing three of their key players - Tafadzwa Dube, Hardlife Zvirekwi and Arnold Chivheya - for the second week. Dube and Zvirekwi are currently in Zambia with the national team while Chivheya will be completing his two-match suspension for the red card he picked in their match against Highlanders. But head coach Taurai Mangwiro will have most of his players available for selection. A win today will be a huge boost to their campaign after dropping four points in draws in their last two games against Highlanders and Hwange. CAPS United are currently six points away from the leaders Harare City. Msiska yesterday urged the club’s supporters to complement their efforts by coming in numbers. “We are working tirelessly to get things right. We are not worried by what is happening at the top of the table because our focus is to collect maximum points in each and every game. “But after we have drawn our last two games, I think it’s time to start getting those wins. Everyone is focused and I must say I am impressed by the backing we are getting from our supporters. “The crowds that travelled to Hwange last week were fantastic. We had not expected that people will sacrifice to go that far just to support their team. We are urging them to continue with the same spirit and now that we are at home we should expect more,” said Msiska. Log leaders Harare City will be out to strengthen their place at the summit, albeit in a tricky assignment against FC Platinum at Rufaro this afternoon. The Sunshine Boys are three points clear at the summit with 34 points and their coach Bigboy Mawiwi yesterday said they will not be fooled into complacency. “With all due respect FC Platinum are a very good side and we are treating them likewise. I would say this is a top-of-the- tabl e clash because they are also not very far from the top. “It will be tough but we are prepared for them. We look forward to be playing our normal game because we don’t want unnecessary pressure,” said Mawiwi.
