Hayek, Nobel Prize for Economic Science 1974 Republicans need to learn what Democrats have known for years. Here’s what F.A. Hayak says about why the Left succeeds in winning elections: “What to the contemporary observer appears as the battle of conflicting interests has indeed often been decided long before in a clash of ideas confined to narrow circles.” (i.e. the elites–universities, movies, novels, mainstream-media, government run schools, etc). “Whether by design or driven by the force of circumstances, they [the Left] have always directed their main effort toward gaining the support of the “elites,” while the more conservative groups have acted, as regularly but unsuccessfully, on a more naïve view of mass democracy and have usually vainly tried to reach and to persuade the individual voter.” The Left has spent years getting the elites to do the work of selling their ideas– even if they have to rely on “consensus” rather than scientific fact to sell something called Global Warming. You know that movies and novels feature business “bad-guys” versus “good-guy” government bureaucrats. The main-stream media trumpets left-wing ideology. Government schools are little more than propaganda machines spewing out the latest fad, regardless of whether children learn grammar, math, or science. Most University economics professors are Keynesian even though the “multiplier” effect does not work. Years of spending have predictably created more government debt. Radical environmentalists hold their beliefs with religious fervor. College presidents are so steeped in hard left-wing ideas that they recently stopped allowing professors to teach Western Civilization. That means young people no longer study the great books or art history. Elites move away from the Constitution and toward one-world order. They preach financial support of single parenting, Utopian schemes such as the United Nations Agenda 21 (an anti-private property rights scheme). They advocate gun control, and say that eventually a couple will need a government certificate to have children. We’ve been outsmarted for 100 years, but we can change. How? By waking up and doing something. You can start supporting school vouchers, you can run for school boards, and you can volunteer for the candidates of your choice. You can elect Republicans, and you can go around the main-stream media by joining the Pima County GOP twitter army. Let your voice be heard where it counts. Personal freedom and economic freedom go together. Get up and do something. Volunteer before it is too late.
