CARSON CITY – POISED FOR SUCCESS IN THE NEW YEAR Northern - TopicsExpress

CARSON CITY – POISED FOR SUCCESS IN THE NEW YEAR Northern Nevada has recently been placed under the national spotlight. Tesla’s planned factory in Storey County has created a positive buzz for our area. As more companies look at Northern Nevada for potential expansion, it’s important that Carson City be proactive and business-friendly with proper utility infrastructure and simplified licensing regulations in place to take advantage of the positive momentum. This is important to create more jobs for Carson City residents. Fortunately, the Board of Supervisors has addressed several long-standing issues and laid the groundwork for economic expansion and growth. Along with the Board’s work, privately funded projects are also getting closer to reality. The Capitol Mall project (behind the Nugget) looks like it is moving forward and, even more exciting to many of us, the Ormsby House should open in 2015. Both projects will help anchor downtown and create additional new retail space and parking. With a minimum amount of available commercial space we can expect to see new commercial construction in the near future. Fortunately, we are ready for it. By working together, both public and private sector projects will help our downtown evolve into a pedestrian and bike friendly city hub. All of these projects, designed and coordinated with each other, will increase sales and room tax revenue and allow us to continue to lower the property tax rate, which will benefit you. I am always available to discuss your questions, comments and concerns. Brad Bonkowski, Supervisor Brad: (775) 721-2057 [email protected]
