CASA is pleased to see a strong stance against oil drilling in the Adriatic as stated in this article and Mr. Škrlecs efforts at the conference “Don’t fossilize yourself!. However....it is very disappointing to see that natural gas is excluded in this effort. Unfortunately, the natural gas industry has put out endless marketing that gas is clean for many years, therefore that image is still embedded in our heads. Please take time to educate yourself, as this is a critical topic. Here is a great resource that explains the impacts of LNG > oregon.sierraclub.org/goals/lng.asp Citizens of the United States continue to fight against LNG proposals across the country. Do you have an American friend? Ask them what Fracking has done to ground water in many communities across the US. It has completely polluted clean water, and is one of the biggest threats to our health! Fracking is a process by which natural gas is extracted from the earth. You can learn more about it here, via the excellent GASLAND film. It should required viewing for every EU citizen > https://youtube/watch?v=6mp4ELXKv-w Methane impact on water organisms and communities: Gas rapidly penetrates into the organism (especially through the gills) and disturbs the main functional systems (respiration, nervous system, blood formation, enzyme activity, and others). External evidence of these disturbances includes a number of common symptoms mainly of behavioral nature. The interval between the moment of fish contact with the gas and the first symptoms of poisoning (latent period) is relatively short. - Dr. Stanislav Patin Read more about natural gas in the marine environment here > offshore-environment/naturalgas.html Share this to inform your friends.
