CDBG grant meeting- only 2 of us showed up. It turns out that these meetings are setup to satisfy Federal requirements that the community be notified. The Deadline for applications was February 21st, 2014. Bloomfield will get about $800,000 in grant monies from the federal government for 2014- the year runs from June 1st, 2014 - May 31st 2015. If you didnt apply in February you are too late... I was given an application and a large printout describing the program and Bloomfield. Nothing was available electronically (even though Ive OPRAd it twice now). I will scan what I received. Someone posted that these grants were only for the Third Ward- which isnt exactly true - The State administers the Small Cities CDBG Program. This program provides grants and loans for community development activities that benefit persons of low and moderate income, prevent or eliminate slums and blight, and meet urgent community development needs for which no other resources are available. All projects and each activity must meet one of the above objectives. Funds may be used for public facilities, community revitalization, housing rehabilitation and innovative development leveraging private investments. So- these grants are available all over town. Applications for next year are available as of November 2014.
