CDCR staffers have raised more than $20,000 for Special Olympics Northern California this year through events hosted by institutions statewide. A team from the California Mens Colony in San Luis Obispo recently ran 2.8 miles down Highway 1 for their leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, which will culminate June 27 at the Summer Games at UC Davis. Staff also hosted an awards ceremony for Special Olympics athletes and raised money through a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser where officers served food and collected donations at a local restaurant.
