CHECKER & JO Came to us when their Mom went to jail for an extended period and they had nowhere else to go. Checker is blind and depends on little Jo (White one) to be his eyes. I have watched them since they first came in and saw how much they loved each other and would be heart broken if they had to be seperated. They slept together. Often with Checker wrapping Jo in his arms while they rested. If Checker was startled by something, Jo would jump to his die. If Checker laid down, Jo laid down. If you saw Jo laying in the outside kennel...you knew Checker was there also. My friend from White Boxer Rescue came to the shelter the other day to meet a dog, I casually walked her over to see these two darlings and told her their story and how much they loved each other. We talked and emailed later about other dogs, but we always came back to these guys. I could tell she was leaning towards helping them so I made sure they were both ready to leave today when she came in to pull another dog. (Maddie/The white matted Poodle). Well, we went outside and spent some time in the play yard with both these boys today and they are both so sweet and friendly that it wasnt long before Connie decided she had to help them and make sure they stayed together. Both left their cage today and went north to her home where she will foster them. Sometimes it pays to plan ahead...just in case you can see a happy ending coming your way!
