CHRISTIANSTED – Mission Blue will be screened with the films producers present for this month’s Movies at the Fort, Saturday, December 27th, 6:00-9:00 PM. As always, the film will be shown on the green outside Fort Christiansvaern. The 10-minute Buck Island Reef National Monument film, Caribbean Gem, will be shown as a trailer. Meet the producers, fishermen and local conservationists to discuss current topics in ocean conservation and marine health. A Round table discussion will precede screening from 5:00-6:00 PM in the NPS Lecture Room, first floor of the Danish West India and Guinea Company Warehouse/Slave Market/Old Post Office Building. All of these events are free to the public and is appropriate for all ages. About the film: More than four years in the making, MISSION BLUE is legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle’s eye-opening wake-up call to save the ocean. Directed by Fisher Stevens (The Cove) and Robert Nixon (Gorillas in the Mist), the film follows Dr. Earle on her global quest to protect the ocean -- and the extraordinary marine life that call it home -- from the powerful forces of pollution, overfishing and climate change.
