CHRISTMAS ART SWAP 2014!!! Our first Art Swap was a roaring success and we’re thrilled to announce another! Our very special Christmas version is about to take place. The Swap involves art ALREADY POSTED to the Challenge wall. Members are randomly given a recipient’s name and address, to whom they should send an original Challenge artwork. If you would like to send a digital piece, you should have it professionally printed before sending (more below). Please note that senders should not spoil the surprise by announcing their recipient’s parcel is on the way, or contacting them to ask if it’s been received yet. The whole point of this Swap is to keep it a surprise. If you would like to join in, you have until midnight, Friday 14 November (Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time) to respond. See how to respond below--please dont leave a comment here; it doesnt count. We regret that if you can’t get your name in by this date, you won’t be able to participate in the Swap this time around. It takes a lot to coordinate, so we can’t make exceptions. We will run others next year. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING THOROUGHLY BEFORE RESPONDING!!! Sorry--this is detailed, but hopefully it will answer most questions ... - The swap is open world-wide. As most members are Australian, any overseas members joining in will probably need to send artwork overseas. - The artwork you send MUST be from the 52-Week Illustration Challenge. It must have been ALREADY POSTED TO THE WALL sometime this year. Please DO NOT create new artwork for this swap. It must be Challenge art and it must be READY TO SEND NOW. - DIGITAL art is fine to send so long as you have it professionally printed on quality paper. Sending a copy paper version from your Inkjet printer doesnt cut it! - You can send extra artwork of ANY kind, or other goodies or treats with your Challenge piece, but please remember everything must be sent on time. - Remember that sending food or other organic items overseas may incur expensive Customs inspections that will become the responsibility of the sender. This is most definitely the case for goods coming into Australia. - ALL swaps should be RECEIVED by the recipient by 15 December 2014 (not SENT-BY, but RECEIVED!). If you are sending overseas, you should factor in the transit timeframe, most particularly given the Christmas rush. - IMPORTANT: If you are going away or know you won’t be able to post your swap so that it reaches your recipient by 15 December, PLEASE DO NOT JOIN IN THE SWAP. It is not fair on others and it creates major headaches for admin. I mean major! - If you know you’ll be away for an extended time and may not be home to RECEIVE your parcel before 15 December, please organise for someone else to confirm receipt, as it’s not fair on your sender (who may panic that your parcel hasn’t arrived). Your stand-in receiver can confirm receipt by posting the news to the Challenge Wall (if they are a member) or by emailing Tania at info(AT)taniamccartney(DOT)com. Coordinating people’s whereabouts/parcel arrivals is not something Challenge admin can do, so please ensure you sort this before joining in the Swap. - When your parcel arrives, post a photograph of your package (or a text ‘thank you’ is fine) to the Challenge Wall, so your sender knows it’s been received. Be sure to tag your sender (by typing the @ symbol and then their name) and make sure you head your post with the words ‘XMAS ART SWAP’. - Please dont send framed artworks. Not only is the postage cost much more expensive, the glass can end up shattered, no matter how well-packed. Indeed, many were broken during our last Swap. - Ensure your artwork is sent with backing boards, in a tube, or in a way that ensures its safe arrival. - The 52-Week Illustration Challenge takes no responsibility for lost mail or problems with between swap participants or the contents they send. HOW TO JOIN IN? Send Tania McCartney a private Facebook message (preferred) or send an email to info(AT)taniamccartney(DOT)com by midnight Friday 14 November (Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time) with ALL of the following: - ART SWAP in the subject line, if emailing. - Your full name. - Your FULL postal address, including state and postcode (a PO Box is fine), and please place it in the following format: John Smith 6 Art Lane Artsville NSW 2002 Australia (always include the country) - Advise if you are willing to post OVERSEAS. Sending a small, flat artwork is very inexpensive to send overseas and it really helps with coordination if you are willing to do this (most participants are Aussie, so your O/S chances are relatively low). - And please, please remember that you should post your artwork to ARRIVE by 15 December, taking overseas locations and Christmas into account. We will randomly pair senders and recipients, and, from around 15 November, will begin contacting everyone directly with the postal details for their Swap recipient. Remember, YOU MUST KEEP THIS SECRET! Feel free to make your parcel as pretty and as special as you can, and again, you’re more than welcome to add any ‘extras’. TROUBLESHOOTING - If your parcel doesn’t arrive by 15 December, please wait a few extra days, then message anyone on the admin team, bearing in mind that if you contact us too close to Christmas, you may not get a response until the new year. - If your recipient doesn’t post a ‘RECEIVED’ or ‘THANK YOU’ message on the Wall, and you’re worried they may not have received it, please don’t contact them directly. Contact admin. - Your name and address will be kept in strictest confidence. It will not be shared with any third party, ever, other than your Art Swap sender. All names and addresses will be permanently deleted from our systems at the end of the Swap. REGISTER YOUR INTEREST BY 14 NOVEMBER YOUR RECIPIENT WILL BE ADVISED 15 + 16 NOVEMBER YOUR PARCEL NEEDS TO ARRIVE BY 15 DECEMBER We’re very excited about this Xmas Swap. Any questions, leave a comment below! Tania and the Team
