CITY OF DAREBIN - PLEASE SUPPORT US IN HELPING YOU ACHIEVE YOUR ANIMAL MANAGEMENT GOALS The majority of cats in care with Paws of Love have come from the City of Darebin. Viola and her nine babies, Cougar and her three babies, Jasper, Misha, Peaches, Junior, Voodoo, Kooki, Skruff, Bella, Stella & Moe (Stella and Moe: A Love Story) have all been rescued through an arrangement with Darebin. While Darebin Council pays more than $200,000 to its high-kill pound contractor the Lost Dogs’ Home each year, they recently rejected a proposal to pay rescue groups a modest subsidy to help with the cost of basic veterinary care for each animal from Darebin saved. Today council advised rescue groups of another FIVE cats requiring rescue. With no funding, Paws of Love and other rescue groups like us won’t be able to continue saving animals’ lives, and the number of Darebin animals being killed at the Lost Dogs Home will soar.
