CLINT BOWYER AND BRIAN VICKERS CONTROVERSIAL IN-CAR AUDIO EXAMINED Published on September 8th, 2013 NASCAR made an official statement on Sunday that they will review the controversial spin by Clint Bowyer in the closing laps of Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400. With less than 10 laps to go Clint Bowyer spun out on his own bringing out the 5th and final caution of the night. The spin would eventually lead to Ryan Newman and Jeff Gordon missing the Chase and have Martin Truex Jr., Clint Bowyer’s teammate, and Joey Logano get into the Chase. Controversy started stirring the moment the #15 spun out bringing the yellow flag with it. Besides Clint Bowyer’s spin, Martin Truex Jr. also might have received help from his other teammate, Brian Vickers. Below we break down what was said over the radio of both the #15 car of Clint Bowyer and the #55 of Brian Vickers, both Michael Waltrip Racing teammates of Martin Truex Jr. Clint Bowyer’s Audio (9 laps to go) Brett Griffin (#15 spotter): “39 is going to win the race. Well, that kinda sucks. Nine more right here.” Brian Pattie (#15 crew chief): “Is your arm starting to hurt? I bet it’s hot in there, itch it.” Clint Bowyer: “Oh yeah.” Brett Griffin: “Right with you, 88. Right with you, right with you, right with you.” Clint Bowyer spins out Brian Pattie: “I think that tire was going down the whole time, man.” Brian Vickers audio (4 laps to go, still under yellow) Ty Norris (MWR General Manager): “We’re probably going to pit here on green.” Brian Vickers: “Are you talking to me? Ty Norris: “Yeah, we’re going to pit.” Brian Vickers: “What? I’ve got to pit? I don’t understand. Pit right now?” Ty Norris: “You’ve got to pit this time. We need that one point.” Brian Vickers: “10-4. Do I got a tire going down?” Ty Norris: “Yeah, come down pit road right now, get a good look at it.” Brian Vickers: “Did you find anything?” Ty Norris: “I’ll see you after the race, Brian. I owe you a kiss.” NASCAR will review all the information which will most likely include in-car audio, telemetry and video tape before making a decision on the incidents. It is unknown what, if any, penalty would be handed to Michael Waltrip Racing, Clint Bowyer or Brian Vickers. - See more at: the5thturn/clint-bowyer-brian-vickers-controversial-car-audio-examined/#sthash.lRiRTcen.dpuf
