CNN’s coverage of the Million Vets March was abysmal, with CNN more focused on numbers than symbolism: The rally, billed as the “Million Vet March on the Memorials,” drew far fewer than a million people and evolved into a protest that resembled familiar tea party events from 2009, with yellow “Don’t Tread On Me” flags throughout the crowd and strong anti-Obama language from the podium and the audience. CNN and other media would do well to learn: It’s the soldier, not the reporter who has given us Freedom of the Press. It’s the soldier, not the poet, who has given us Freedom of Speech. It’s the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the Freedom to Demonstrate. It’s the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the Right to a Fair Trial. It’s the soldier who salutes the flag, serves under the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who gives the protestor the right to burn the flag. ~Father Dennis Edward O’Brien, USMC Read more at theblacksphere.net/2013/10/cnn-denigrates-americas-veterans/#XP2yjFALLIVRlEpv.99
