COAST DAILY WEATHER REPORT: MSP GETS ANOTHER 1.05 - 4.11 IN 2 DAYS COULD BE THUNDERSTORM LATER TODAY (NOTE: Here are the conditions sent in the daily coast weather report by MSP to the CoCoRAHS Network - were station CA-MD-5 (in Elk). Theyre the conditions the previous day 8:00 am to 8:00 am today. H= 64.5F (3:01 am), L= 48.8F, NOW = 50.0F, RH 94%, Dew pt 47F, Wind: 8.3 mph South, Ocean temp 60.4F, Waves 14.8 Barometer 29.77inHg(R). The highest wind speed yesterday on shore in Mendocino was 52 mph recorded @ 2:57 am. Sunrise was 7:16 am, sunset is 4:51 pm. Length of day is 9 hours, 34 minutes, 58 seconds - 37 seconds shorter than yesterday. The moon phase is Waning Gibbous (67% illuminated). Surprising to have reports of a sunset although we werent here to witness it. We are 4-for-11 in sunsets for December November 18/30 sunsets = 60% October 17/31 sunsets = 55% There have been 346 days so far this year, there are 19 days left. There is a 4.39 HIGH tide @ 2:14 pm in Mendocino Bay. The going out on a limb Intellicast forecast calls for: Light rain early, then remaining cloudy with showers in the afternoon. Overcast here south of Elk (light rain earlier) at 8:00 am today. The more accurate National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook saying SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE TODAY. THUNDERSTORMS MAY EXHIBIT BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS & SMALL HAIL. There are also predicting: Today: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 4:00 pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4:00 pm. Mostly cloudy, with highs mainly in the middle 50s. Light WNW wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Tonight: A 40% chance of showers, mainly before 10:00 pm. Partly cloudy, with lows mainly in the middle 40s. Light NNW wind. Saturday: Mostly sunny, with highs mostly in the middle 50s. Calm wind becoming WSW around 6 mph. Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with lows mainly in the middle 40s. NNE wind 9-14 mph becoming east southeast. NWS EUREKA (OCEAN): Small Craft Advisory in effect until 3:00 pm Saturday. The forecast in the coastal waters from Cape Mendocino to Point Arena out to 10 nautical miles (They use ALL CAPS): WINDS WILL REMAIN LIGHT TODAY A& SATURDAY AS A WEAK PRESSURE GRADIENT SETTLES OVER THE REGION. OTHERWISE, WEST LONG PERIOD SWELL WILL GRADUALLY EASE INTO THE WEEKEND. SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE EARLY NEXT WEEK AS THE NEXT FRONT APPROACHES AROUND THE SAME TIME THE NEXT LONG PERIOD WESTERLY SWELL ARRIVES IN THE WATERS. Waves W 13 at 15 seconds. Slight chance of tstms. SURFING CONDITIONS (From Swellinfo):Double to triple overhead-high W ground swell. Glassy conditions in the early morning with ENE winds less than 5 mph. Bumpy/semi-bumpy conditions move in during the morning hours with the winds shifting NW 10-15 mph. MSP WEATHER PHOTOS--The heavy rains have created waterfalls all over the Mendocino coast - this is one along Highway 1 south of Elk Thursday.
