While the drink was virtually unheard of a decade ago, an increasing number of brands are being launched on the market. Theres no doubting the popularly of the drink, which is made from the juice of young, green coconuts. Data from Euromonitor show that the worlds largest provider, Vita Coco, sold nearly $US270 million of coconut water in 2013 – nearly 300 times what it did in 2004, when the first such drink was sold. Large beverage providers have also got in on the act. Coca-Cola owns Zico, the second-largest brand in the US, which generated $US87 million last year, while Pepsi owns O.N.E – the third-largest brand in the US.
