Milly is a beautiful, four-year-old Shepherd mix whod most likely do best as an only pet, but is otherwise an exceptional girl. Please, help us find her a home before its too late! A volunteer writes: Milly, what a pretty name for a really good looking girl. Indeed, Lilly turns a lot of heads at the care center and in the street or the park. She is a beautiful German Shepherd, young looking, with bright eyes, healthy, the perfect weight and wearing a lush coat with gorgeous markings. Milly is a bit anxious in her cage, making little crying sounds. She does not seem to be used to a kennel or a crate. She might have been a yard or guard dog, wearing calluses on all four limbs. Milly is easy to leash. She is a friendly gal who likes to be caressed, comes when called and sits on command. She is quite obedient and well behaved. Milly does not chase birds or squirrels. She welcomes people who come to say hello, even when we are in a pen together. Millys main issue, though, is to bark at other dogs, in the shelter, in the street or in the park. She does not listen to a firm no or a pull. I think that like many Sheppies, Milly has been used as a watch dog. This is a profession in itself of course but if Milly is to become a regular canine citizen, a pet, she will have to be trained out of the habit. Milly is a gorgeous and human friendly dog we have at the Manhattan Care Center. She is worth the effort one might want to put into her.
