COMBAT LIBERALISM LIBERALISM, an old bug that eats Philippine society. The Philippine Constitution is formulated and approved not by one man but by majority votes of Filipinos. The 1987 Constitution states that SOVEREIGNTY resides upon the PEOPLE and ALL AUTHORITY emanates from them. It is very clear that the real source of power and authority are the FILIPINO PEOPLE themselves and not Pnoy or any govt official. What will happen if the FILIPINO PEOPLE will not exercise their authority and power? The spirit of democracy and of the Constitution which is an expressed will of the people will be defeated and one man rule will prevail. This happened because of liberalism. What is liberalism? FROM MAO TSE-TUNG THOUGHTS (with my paraphrases) Liberalism manifests itself in various ways: To let things slide for the sake of peace and friendship when a person has clearly gone wrong, and refrain from principled argument because he is an old acquaintance, a fellow townsman, a schoolmate, a close friend, a loved one, an old colleague or old subordinate. Or to touch on the matter lightly instead of going into it thoroughly, so as to keep on good terms. The result is that both the entire people and the individual are harmed. To let things drift if they do not affect one personally; to say as little as possible while knowing perfectly well what is wrong, to be worldly wise and play safe and seek only to avoid blame. To hear incorrect views without rebutting them and to take them calmly as if nothing had happened. To see someone harming the interests of the people and yet not feel indignant, or dissuade or stop him or reason with him, but to allow him to continue. To be aware of ones own mistakes and yet make no attempt to correct them, taking a liberal attitude towards oneself. Liberalism is extremely harmful. It is a corrosive which eats away unity, undermines cohesion, causes apathy and creates dissension. Liberalism stems from selfishness, it places personal interests first and the interests of the entire people second, if not the last. Liberalism is committed by filipino people. When Filipino people becomes passive (wait, see, let the leaders do). When Filipinos instead of taking the lead, they want to be at the tail (tailism). Instead that leaders will only implement the will and wishes of the majority Filipinos, the later allows their leaders to think and decide on their behalf. In the long run, the authority of the Filipino people is usurped and surrendered to one man. This is liberalism. From liberalism virus comes also another destructive germ: opportunism Opportunism: defined as an unnecessary and unprincipled accommodation. It means an excessive readiness to make compromises with someone in exchange of something like favor, friendship, position, and money. To get along and to go with the flow. Dito pumapasuk ang mga sip-sip na parang linta na nakadikit. Although you know that what your government and politicians are doings are violations of the Supreme will of the people and of democratic processes, you tolerate because of some favor in exchange you will gain.
