COMELEC takes custody of seized money allegedly used for Vote Buying The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) - pursuant to the June 28, 2013 Order of the COMELEC, First Division in SPA Case No. 13-323 - conducted, on July 2, 2013, an inventory and transfer of money, allegedly used for vote buying in Norzagaray, Bulacan, last May 13, 2013 National and Local Elections. The money, amounting to Php692,000.00, comprised of 500 Peso bills, found inside 1,384 small brown envelopes and contained in 4 sealed boxes of fruit juice. Also, 140 pieces of sample ballots were found inside the said boxes. They were all turned-over by the Municipal Treasurer of Norzagaray, Bulacan to the COMELEC for safekeeping. In the presence of all the parties concerned and their respective counsels, the COMELEC’s Clerk of the Commission photocopied, bundled and sealed the money and deposited the same in a safety box which will remain at the Office of Chairman Sixto S.
